St. Gertrude's Monastery in Ridgely, Maryland is home to our community of 28 Benedictine Sisters — all living a life of communal prayer and work. We're located on 500 acres of farm land on Eastern Shore and our ministries are as diverse as our sisters themselves. Many of us live and work here in Ridgely — both in Benedictine Programs and Services and through St. Martin's Ministries. But many of the sisters work in other areas, including Wilmington, Delaware and Washington, D.C. St. Elizabeth School in Wilmington, Delaware is a school that the Ridgely Benedictines have staffed since it was founded in 1908 (Elementary) and the High School in 1940.
